A Special Message from Bret Schundler
Bret Schundler: A Strong, Dedicated Family Man
Mayor Schundler's sense of mission results from a strong New Jersey upbringing. He was born in Morristown New Jersey, the youngest of nine children. He grew up in Middlesex and Union Counties, where he was an All-State football player at Westfield High School. His father taught him that the good fight is the good life. He has tried to live that out during his service as the Mayor of Jersey City, where he has lived with his wife Lynn since 1985. They have two children, Shaylin and Hans, who he hopes to
teach strong values by his word and also his example.
Bret Schundler believes that the strength of New Jersey begins with the strength of its families.
"Loving your family is good practice to being Governor. It helps you develop the discipline and experience the joy of commitment to others.
I am running for Governor to build a better New Jersey for your family and mine because
I know from experience that it's through giving of ourselves that we truly receive happiness.
I'm not afraid to risk doing what is right because I take to heart the words of my parents that in this world it is only the love we leave with others that will remain when we are gone.
Therefore, if you give me the chance to serve you as Governor, I will fight for and remain faithful to you...as I have been to my family."
