TRENTON (Undated-AP) -- New Jersey's candidates for governor aren't taking Labor Day off.
Republican Bret Schundler and Democrat Jim McGreevey both will be out shaking hands and kissing babies at holiday events around the state.
Schundler, the conservative former Jersey City mayor who surprised Republicans with an upset in the June primary, will be walking in the South Plainfield parade Monday morning, then attending the Rutherford Street Fair at noon.
McGreevey, the former Woodbridge mayor who almost defeated Christie Whitman in New Jersey's last gubernatorial contest, is heading to the seashore.
McGreevey plans to walk the Sandy Hook beach and have breakfast at a diner there before walking the beaches in Ocean Grove and Belmar with former Senator Bill Bradley. McGreevey also has scheduled a news conference on environmental issues in Belmar and a rally in Spring Lake, also with Senator Bradley.
McGreevey also is set for a stroll on the Point Pleasant beach and will speak at the summer concert series there Monday evening.
