“It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of Maureen Reagan.

“She was of tremendous support to her father, the former president, in all of his campaigns for public office. Her charm, wit and contagious enthusiasm contributed enormously to the success of the Reagan revolution.

“Maureen Reagan was a steady source of comfort to her father during his prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s. She proved a tireless advocate for Alzheimer’s victims. In her own battle with cancer, she alerted the nation to the dangers of melanoma and the importance of early detection. Millions of Americans and their families have benefited from her efforts on behalf of those who suffer from both diseases.

“She was truly an exceptional human being. I extend my deepest sympathy to her family. They, as well as she, will remain in our prayers.”
